# I am currently in the military, when should I start testing?

Typically, 3-4 months from your separation date, but you'll want to time it so you can participate in the hiring process of the specific agencies to which you are applying. It may be helpful to contact those agencies directly to discuss your separation timeline. The hiring processes may include oral boards, background checks, psychological testing, polygraphs, etc.
