Can I keep testing to increase my score?
Whether you pass or fail the written exam, candidates must wait at least 90 days (~3 months) before taking another written exam for the same category (LEO, FF, etc). At that time, you may test for any agency, including those on your original test date.
Law enforcement and corrections candidates must complete the PST PAT within 180 days, before or after, your written examination. Your test scores are not sent to agencies until you have completed both the written exam and PAT within 180 days of each other (for agencies that require both).
Firefighter candidates must complete the PST CPAT within 180 days (~6 months) of your written examination. Your test scores are not sent to agencies until you have completed both the written exam and CPAT within 180 days of each other (for agencies that require both).
Please note that individual agencies may have specific policies about how often they review updated candidate scores and which scores they choose to accept if multiple are submitted (for example, your most recent score vs your highest score). Be sure to review each department’s profile for details on their specific requirements and score preferences.
